I hate Pittsburgh

Well, not all of Pittsburgh, just the part where Sidney Crosby resides. Seriously, fuck him.

He is not the best player in the game, he's a crying little bitch. The Penguin's took a 3-1 series lead on the Flyers and I am sure the hockey world will continue to blow Crosby. He's not even the best player on his team. Malkin is better than Crosby. I'll take Ovechkin any day of the week as well. I seriously want someone to board Sid the Kid one day and knock the piss out of him. If someone were to do that though, they'd be banned from the league for life. Fags.

Anyway. San Jose FINALLY got on board with a 4-3 win over Anaheim. I am still waiting for Joe Thornton to step up and get this team moving. While I am a huge fan of the Red Wings and Flyers, I will root for the Sharks and Bruins as well. I love watching Joe Thornton play. I hope this team gets their act together and gets out of the 1st round. They always seem to choke come playoff time and that never ceases to amaze me.

New Jersey was stunned with .02 seconds left and Carolina evened the series at 2 games a piece. Entertaining stuff especially when Marty slams his stick against the boards after the goal was allowed. Priceless.

Oh, and the Red Wings took a 3-0 series lead on Columbus. The Blue Jackets have a bright future with Steve Mason in goal and Rick Nash at the center position. Hopefully, Ken Hitchcock keeps on performing his masterful job at maximizing players and they build a contender there.

I know hockey is not considered a high-profile sport for a lot of people but next to football, I love hockey the most. Baseball is close and the NBA can just suck my used rubbers. This is my blog so I'll write what I want. Thank you.

Not a good week for baseball

These past few days have given the sport of baseball a punch to the gut. First, the tragic loss of Nick Adenhart at the hands of an idiot drunk-driver. Next, our beloved Harry Kalas collapsed and died before the Phillies game against the Nationals. On top of that, baseball lost one of ot's most colorful figures ever in Mark "The Bird" Fidrych. The Bird played the game like he was a big kid. Before the whole glamour age of me-first athletes who only want camera time, Fidrych played with pure, unbridled joy. Although I am too young to have seen him in person, I know those wh ohave who say he was a bright star who was derailed by injuries. It's a shame.

I cannot even get into the Adenhart situation. 22 years old. That is way too young to go. I am only 27 and it gives me chills. Why some dipshit with a suspended license was able to acquire another vehicle is beyond me. He should get life or the death penalty. Oh wait. Flaming liberals are against the death penalty. RIP Nick and the fellow victims of this senseless accident.

Now, the really tough part. The great Harry the K. The man was a legend. Humble, kind, friendly and he related to the city. He was one of the last of a dying breed. he broadcasted the game and only spoke when the need arose. The guys today talk way too much. Harry loved the game, city, fans and the Phillies. He also enjoyed a heater and a beer. He was the voice of the Phillies, NFL films, and even the Puppy Bowl. He started his legacy in Houston and worked his way to Philly four decades ago. He was not embraced at first but eventually, he was part of the family.

You knew it was time for spring and summer when Harry came on the radio. I didn't live here but my fathers family did and when we would drive down, I loved hearing Harry and Whitey. They helped to love the Phillies at a young age while living in the Pittsburgh vicinity. I was among the minority but I never wavered. When I made my way to the city, I was only too happy to turn on the radio and listen to Harry with the TV on mute. I made sure to do so during the World Series run last season. I turned the TV off in the 9th inning and let Harry take over like he had so mnay times before. Once he said: "Struuuck him ouuut! The Phillies are 2008 world champions of baseballll" it was official. Only when Harry said it was it so. That applied to everything.

When Richie Ashburn passed away, it was hard on Harry and the fans. Now, with Harry gone, the city truly mourns. He was not just an announcer. He was a fan. He was a common man. He was kind and generous and he connected with everyone. There is not one person with something bad to say about him. He is family. We will always love him. We will always remember him. We will truly miss him.

It's almost time for real baseball and I am excited.

Can you feel it? Can you? Punk? It's almost time. Spring is here and baseball is back. Time for the Phillies to defend their World Series trophy. I have been lucky enough to see my two favorite teams, the White Sox and the Phils, win World Series while I am alive. The excitement that overcame this city was unreal. I hope to experience it again eventually.

The Phils come into this season with almost the same team intact. They subtracted Pat "The Bat" Burrell and added Raul Ibanez. I was never the biggest fan of Pat but there's no denying when he was on, he was unreal. the problem was, when he was off, he was waaaay off. Ibanez is a little more consistent, albeit older and a lefty, so he should do well in CB Park. The two concerns are his age and the fact he's another left handed bat in a lineup that has a plethora of lefties.

I will say that Pat was a class-act even when there were those of us who were booing the hell out of him. He was a popular clubhouse guy and for the most part, he went about his business quietly. The one time he spoke out was against former teammate Billy Wagner who had recently signed with the hated New Choke Mets. Pat called him a "rat". It was beautiful. Pat also had a knack for playing his best against those Mets and we all loved him for it. Sitting in left field two rows back, I was a douche towards Burrell for a while. He always took it and interacted with the fans well. I never thought I'd say this but I am going to miss him. Good luck Pat, you delivered a big hit when we needed it and you were a classy guy.

This city drives me nuts...

Normally, I will try to stick to sports talk. However, today I am angered at some of my fellow Philly residents. A cop killer is on trial today and there are people actually attempting to defend him. Seriously. There have been more than a few police officers killed here in the past few years and every time, the same lines are used. "Oh, he's a good man." "I don't know why there were drugs in his possession." "The officers are racist." "He was setup." "He's a good father to his seven kids." Blah, blah, blah. Enough already! These idiots have all had multiple convictions yet they are free to roam the streets and cause havoc. There are too many bleeding-hearted liberals in charge who claim these animals are reformed. Give me a break. I've had enough.

I am in favor of the death penalty. It should be mandatory. I say bring back public hangings. Maybe I am just angry. Sure, there are corrupt cops out there but the majority outweighs the minority. Our society seems to only glorify these hoods and their actions. It's a joke. And people wonder why racism is thriving? Seriously? It's even more of a joke when I sit here and listen to these people spew their garbage about these convicted felons innocence. Unbelievable.

I think that the victim's families should have an opportunity to be locked in a room with the animals that have taken their loved ones lives. That seems only fair. The last officer that was gunned down was 25 years old and married with a wife who is pregnant with their first child. Now, that child will grow up never knowing its father. This is bullshit. I'm tired of all the excuses for these punks who grow up disadvantaged. Do something about it! Work hard! Now we have a government who wants to reward people for doing nothing! WAKE UP PEOPLE!! Enough is enough! I've had it up to here!!!!!

Yes, I am a conservative. Yes, I despise the liberal agenda. Unfortunately, I am the minority here in Philly. Every time another democrat is elected, it's more of the same B.S. And yet we wonder why? Really? We had one of the worst mayors in HISTORY for any city in John Street. He was as corrupt as they come. Now, Mayor Nutter is in charge and I actually had a small glimmer of hope for him even though he was another Dem. Now, after hearing his regurgitated rhetoric, I know nothing will change. It's not a new day, it's just another dark one. Another black eye on the city. It won't change until we get these thugs off of the streets. Black, white whatever, they are all scum. Get rid of them!!! I will protect my family by any means necessary. ANY MEANS NECESSARY. I don't care what it takes. I am trying to raise my children to view everyone as equal but it gets harder and harder by the day. Hopefully, something will change and we can all prosper in harmony. It's a pipe dream, but a dream nonetheless.

Who knows? Maybe one person can make a difference? I doubt it, but there's always hope.

Again, I am in a haze.

I have come to the conclusion that I should invest in sleep sometime. I just take the approach that I will sleep when I am dead. However, I am running on fumes today, much like every other day. I just don't have the ability to sleep in no matter how much I want to. Anyway, back to the topics at hand.

Villanova. Wow. After almost laying a turd against American in the 1st round, they are playing some amazing basketball. While I can say that Pitt is a team I normally root for, I love seeing Nova keep their season going. They deserve to be in the Final Four. I don't know if they can keep up with Carolina but I will not be surprised to see them win. Not anymore. Jay Wright is fantastic. That game against Pitt was a classic. Love this team.

This is a really good Final Four this year. Each of these teams deserve it. This is the first year I didn't fill out at least one bracket with my boys from UNC winning it all. I was concerned about Ty Lawson's health. When he is on the court, I don't think anyone can match up with Carolina. Their depth is ridiculous. Roy Williams has built so much depth that they can sit their five starters and still hang with just about anyone. But Ty lawson is the key. He is a perfect example of a floor general. The guy just makes them go.

What can I say about Tom Izzo. The man is one hell of a coach. He preaches defense and this team is relentless in their harrassment of opposing players. I was glad to see them knock Pitino's Cardinals out of the tourney. I don't know if they can hang with UConn but they won't roll over either. Should be a good physical game.

I hate Jim Calhoun . Despise him. But man, UConn is really good. I mean really good. The Big East is the best conference in college basketball. It isn't even close. I think they have too much for MSU with Jeff Adrian, AJ Price, and Thabeet manning the paint, but MSU will challenge them. There have been times where UConn looks disinterested but in this tourney, they look hungry. They could be scary to go up against. I think they have more offensive fire power than MSU but defense is the key.

Whatever happens, I have really enjoyed the tourney this year. I love college basketball and I am sad to see it go. I really want to see Nova or UNC win it all but either way, this should be a great Final Four and Championship game. I am just happy Coach K's boys failed again. Priceless. I hate that guy.

Uhhh, whoops.

Ahh vicoden. How you lure me in with your sweet whispers. Promising me the unreachable. And for one day, we cruise together. All is well in the world, until the next morning, when I have to wake up after only getting 3 hours of sleep and I feel like a band of angry midgets are beating their way out of my head with dull icepicks. Anywhoo, on to sports.

Even though I am in a horrible haze today, the smile cannot and will not be removed from my face today. Duke is out of the NCAA tournament and all is right in the world. Nothing pleases me more then when I see the Coach K face of anger. His smirk is wonderful. The guy defines douche. There are a few teams that I just cannot stand in the sports world. Some are commonplace among fans. Duke is one of those teams. This is not just because I am a HUGE UNC fan. I have never liked Duke or any of their players. But the main reason I despise this team: Coach K.

What I am about to say is among one of my many statements that is sure to land me a place in hell. Back when Coach K got sick and left the team for a while, I actually cheered when I heard the report on SportsCenter. Now, I was younger and more arrogant and a complete sports nut,(I still am) but the satisfaction I got from laughing at the struggles of Duke was outstanding.

Another reason I am pleased is because I am fan of Philadelphia basketball. Villanova is a really good team and Jay Wright has been the perfect coach for this program. People outside of this city just cannot appreciate the awesome level of college basketball that is played here. There is so much history in these buildings it just screams to be discovered. If you live here, you know about it. You listen to stories, you see new history being written, basketball is a sacred thing. It is truly beautiful to be a part of. If you are a college basketball junkie, and I am, you have to make a trip here and check it out. One of the best venues ever is the Palestra. It is such a great place that words cannot describe it. Anyway, congrats to Nova. While I was hesitant to pick them over Duke in one of my pools, I am glad they moved on.

The Big East is far and away the best conference in college basketball. It's not even close. I have a rooting interest in a few teams in college sports and that's how it is. I love me some UNC, PSU, Texas and Pitt. I also root for all teams Philly and I love to see them succeed. College basketball in Philly is on the upswing. Fran Dunphy is bringing Temple back, Jay Wright has Nova rocking, John Giannini is bringing LaSalle up by HUGE leaps and bounds, Bruiser Flint has Drexel in games more then they should be, and Martelli is Martelli, St. Joes will always be dangerous. Penn will improve but you can only do so much when you cannot offer scholarships.

Anyway, congrats to the Philly squads for another great year. It's not over yet as Nova carries our banner. While I am sad to see the season go, the Phillies are the defending champs and the Flyboys could do some damage again. The NFL draft is coming and I cringe at another season of Andy Reid and Donny Mac. But my love for college basketball keeps me in check for now. Congrats Nova and coach Wright, you guys are great!

And Coach K, suck my ass. Douche.

Sweet Jesus!

This is a down time right now. No football, waiting for baseball, nearing the end of the NCAA tourney and hockey drawing to a close. The one event on the horizon: the NFL Draft. I get pumped up for this every year. It's almost like a holiday. That little extra bit of sunshine until next season. Unless you're an Eagles fan. Then you don't ever have to watch the 1st round. Because Andy Reid and Joe Banner are douchebags. This year, they have two 1st rounders. Will they screw this up? More than likely. I can only hope they keep both picks and actually draft some skill position players. It would be nice if they could evaluate talent though. The only way I want to see them trade either pick is if they make a push for Anquan Boldin or Braylon Edwards. Even then, giving up a 1st rounder is tough. The draft does offer some hope though. If they screw this up miserably, and choke like always next year, MAYBE we can finally get Reid out of here. I know it's a pipedream, but hey, anything is possible.

Danny Briere..you suck

Another Flyers game, another Danny Briere injury. Is it me or is this guy as useless as tits on a bull? Christ, he gets hurt the day AFTER the trade deadline. Thanks for that Danny. That big contract sure seems to be paying off. In ohter news, my Red Wings are still cruising along. The only other team I am concerned with in the conference is the Sharks. I think they may actually have enough to overcome their past choking performances this year. I want it to be a Flyers/Red Wings final for the Cup but it won't happen that way. The Devils look damn good and getting Mart back in net can only help them. Yes, i am talking hockey. I love it. Eat me.

Sean Jones, Philadelphia Eagle?

Word is that the Birds have brought Mr. Jones in for a visit. If they can somehow manage to sign him, I will give some forgiveness back to the regime from hell. This would make Jones the SS and Mikell the new FS. I could live with this. Jones has to stay healthy for it to work though. I am still among the many bitter fans who hope to see Joe Banner strung up by his entrails. I feel as though that will never change. Why? Because fuck Joe Banner. That's why.

Damn these Philadelphia Eagles

Within a few days, the Birds have managed to rip my heart out and make me smile at the same time. With the departure of B-Dawk, I was wishing horrible things upon Joe Banner, like being ass-raped by a rabid bear with AIDS, and then he goes and trades Greg Lewis...to New England. God bless you for that Joe. If they got anything other than the clap for G-Lew, it's a great trade. I still cannot get over letting the face of the franchise go while bringing in a 34 year old broken down corner, Shawn Springs,in for a visit afterwards. It makes no sense. I still have hope for a Boldin trade but it seems unlikely. If they don't step up soon, Super 5 has got to be gone next. While I am not a big fan of McNabb, Kevin Kolb may very well be the anti-christ at QB. Let's see something Eagles. Otherwise, go fuck yourselves.

Combine time!!

Ah yes, it's that magical time of year again. Time for large men to run around in shorts and t-shirts to prove that they are good football players and worth of making too much goddamn money. COMBINE TIME! I am a fan of the combine because it allows me to keep some connection with football for a bit longer. Mock drafts will be flying soon and that is a lot of fun as well, even though not one single expert will ever have an accurate one. How in the fuck do guys like Mel Kiper Jr get their jobs? Seriously? Is there no God? Why does he hate me? What the FUCK makes Kiper qualified to get a show, book deal, cushy gig? Maybe I missed something. is it the hair? I can get good hair. No problem. I can talk football all day. Dick. Anyway, it's time once again to figure out which guy will be this years Mike Mamula. You know, the guy who looks great without the pads and action of a game. Asshole. I never really took a whole lot of stock in the combine for the most part. If i was an exec about to invest millions of dollars in a player, I'd look for on field production first and foremost. Also, I'd like a guy who isn't dumb as a goddamn brick.( Sorry, Vince Young!) That's important. Anyway, let the games begin, I only hope the Lions and Eagles don't continue to fuck this up.

Ah, the crack of leather is in the air.

And no, I don't mean fetish porn. Well, maybe a little. Baseball is back. After football leaves us high and dry like a prom date, baseball steps in to finish the job. Baseball takes one for the team. Now, my love for football is undying, but the time from May until training camp needs to be filled somehow. You can only watch so much scat. I am looking forward to seeing the Phillies defend the trophy. With all the steroids junk going on, it's nice to say " World Fucking Champs" to anyone who'll listem.
